Sadly to everyone, Muhammad Muddair died in December 2017. In the words of his thesis advisor, Prof. Paolo de Angelis: "Muhammad obtained the MSc degree at University of Tuscia with the maximum grade and the extra mention “cum laude”, presenting a Thesis on “Efficacy of Biochar in Reducing Cu and Zn Toxicity in Manure Sludge Using Biological Indicators”. In the following years continued the scientific activity at the University of Tuscia, as PhD student, investigating the “Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Rice Fields under Different Management Systems at Global Level”. As MSc thesis supervisor I particularly appreciated his interest and motivation to learn but also his efforts into assimilating it to his own experience and developing his own ideas. He was an excellent student, able to work very well both independently and in a team. Hard worker, diligent, and capable of running many activities at the same time."  December 2017.

As my professional interest is towards forest pathology I had the opportunity to study particularly Phytophthora diseases for my final thesis. "MEDFOR was a major steppingstone for both my career path and personal life. The multicultural environment, great variety of courses and mobility between countries equipped me with a broad perspective on diverse forestry issues. It boosted my international experience and greatly expended my professional network, consequently increasing potential job opportunities. Graduating from MEDFOR I had a much clearer vision of my professional direction, classmates who issued positions in key institutions and lots of new friends worldwide.
Nowadays, I am the director of Forest Management Department and Coordinator for Research and Foreign Relations in Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL-JNF) which is the acting Forest Service of Israel, and MEDFOR had a great contribution for this achievement." January 2018.

“First of all, thanks to Erasmus Mundus program for the MEDFOR program. It introduced me to a completely new type of ecosystem. I have been able to learn about the adaptive management system of a water stressed region with MEDFOR. It has taught me also about the basic strategies to tackle with fire; one of the most severe problems for the Mediterranean region. Moreover, I have gained knowledge about advanced forest management strategies by with the program. I am doing my PhD in University of Lisbon. My thesis focuses on the projection of sea level rise in Bangladesh until 2100."  November 2018.
