Semester Course: 1st
Credits: 5 ECTS
Prerequisites: Lecturers: Jordi Voltas and Ignacio Romagosa

  1. Objectives:
To know basic concepts of inferential statistics that are useful in experimental design and analysis in forestry. To become familiar with most used experimental designs in relation to the objectives of the experiment. To understand the application of General Linear Models (GLM) in forestry, including fixed and mixed models. To provide an overview of a number of analytical methods based on the application of GLM theory (analysis of variance and covariance, regression, and multivariate techniques such as cluster and discriminant analysis).

  2. Programme topics:
    1. Inferential statistics
    2. Design of Experiments in forestry.
    3. Experimental Analysis: General Linear Models and analysis of variance.
    4. Linear regression and analysis of covariance.
    5. Multivariate analysis.

  3. Assessment:
Resolution of practical exercises (40%) and final exam (60%).
