- Objectives:
To review ecological and economic constraints that influence forest management methods in the Mediterranean woodlands. To understand and assess multiple-use principles traditionally applied and their evolution under changing social and economic demands.
- Programme topics:
1. Introduction to forest management methods: historical development.
2. Structure and contents in forest management plans.
3. Management for Mediterranean species and products (wood and non wood): Dehesas, Cork Oak, Stone Pine, mushroom, Mesogean pine management.
4. Software tools & technical developments.
- Assessment:
Course requirements include an oral presentation on a specific topic (40%), and a written exam (60%).
